Getting Started
To start your Footblock journey:
- Installation: Ensure you have NeoForge installed for Minecraft 1.21.1. Place the Footblock mod `.jar` file into your `mods` folder. You can download the mod from CurseForge.
- Crafting the Ball: The Soccer Ball can be found in the "Footblock - Items" creative tab.
- Spawning the Ball: Right-click with the Soccer Ball item on a block to spawn a Ball Entity.
- Basic Interaction: Walk into the Ball Entity to dribble it. Your look direction will influence its path.
- Keybinds: Check your Controls menu (Options -> Controls -> Key Binds -> Footblock) to see and customize the default keybinds. The default **"Perform Skill Move" key is `V`**.

These skills are performed by pressing `V` while meeting specific player input conditions (movement, modifiers like Shift/Ctrl, look direction). Details for each skill are listed below:

Soccer Ball
The heart of the game! Right-click to place a Ball Entity. Can be picked up by right-clicking the entity (unless holding gloves).
Goalkeeper Glove
Right-click to attempt a save! Lunge towards the ball and punch it away. Wider save zone and stronger repulsion. Has a cooldown.
Powerful Destructor Boots
Unleash your true power!
(Cosmetic boots).
Velocity Striker Boots
Run faster than a car!
(Cosmetic boots).
Referee Whistle
Right-click to blow the whistle.
Red & Yellow Cards
For the aspiring referee! (Currently cosmetic).
Gameplay Tips
- Practice Dribbling: Get a feel for how the ball responds to your movement and look direction. Gentle adjustments are key.
- Master Contextual Skills: Use the skill list above as a guide. Experiment with the `V` key in different situations. If you have access to a test build with `DEBUG_DISPATCHER = true;` in the mod code, it will print context to your chat.
- Timing is Everything: Whether it's timing a tackle, a Goalkeeper Glove save, or a skill move to beat an opponent, practice makes perfect.
- Use Your Modifiers: `Shift` and `Ctrl` in combination with the skill key (`V`) and movement unlock the more advanced maneuvers.
- Defensive Positioning: Use tackles wisely. A mistimed slide tackle can leave you vulnerable. Standing tackles are safer for general dispossession.
